It is almost time for the first British Sim Racing Cup!

24 February 2026

Gaming and esports in the UK have been on the rise in recent years, and few legacy organisations are making as much effort to integrate that rise into their business as Motorsport UK are. As the governing body for four-wheel motorsport in the United Kingdom, they have been rather active in terms of esports of late. Just a few months ago, for example, Motorsport UK announced a completely revamped Four Nations Esports Cup and now, the organisation has announced another competition as well. In March 2026, they will launch the very first edition of the British Sim Racing Cup, with a brand-new format.

British Sim Racing Cup 2026

Sim racing has always been an essential part of competitive motorsport and the rise of esports in the UK has greatly enhanced the possibilities in that regard. As a result, sim racing as a whole has grown in popularity as well, which explains why Motorsport UK is spending more and more time and effort on organising esports-related events. The upcoming inaugural edition of the British Sim Racing Cup is a perfect example of that. A total of thirty (30) drivers will compete on eight of Britain’s most iconic racing tracks and every round will feature a distinctive car class.

“The British Sim Racing Cup is a new iRacing competition designed to test the best sim racers in ways they haven't been before”, writes Motorsport UK on their own website, “Thirty drivers will take on all eight UK circuits available on iRacing, but with a twist... competitors will race a different car class at each circuit. Drivers will be pushed to adapt to radically different cars at each round with the best driver across all eight rounds having their named engraved on the trophy, securing their placed in history.”

Schedule and classes

The first round of the British Sim Racing Cup 2026 will be held on Tuesday, March 17th, on a virtual version of the Donington Park GP circuit. As car class, the GT3 has been selected for the first race. You can find the complete schedule, including distinctive car classes per race, below:

For the TCR race at Thruxton, for example, there will be two 20-minute races, while the GT4 round at Oulton Park will consist of one 45-minute race. Motorsport UK has also revealed a few other details, including the possibility of rain during every round and, of course, the prizes. For the best three racers, these include Regen light-blocking glasses, Regen accessories, and a host of other Regen rewards.
