22 December 2021

Earlier this month, the BEA (British Esports Association) and the College of Esports in East London published a statement announcing their brand-new partnership. The British Esports Association will be supporting the college's courses and faculty with its deep industry expertise as the collaboration is aimed at fostering the growth of esports in the UK as a whole. For both the association and the university-level institution, this partnership is an exclusive first.

The College of Esports in the UK

As the college's websites states, the College of Esports teaches business degrees through the lens of your favourite passion, esports. As a result, the available courses cover the whole industry of esports in the UK and internationally, including player and talent management, relevant fields of law, and sales and marketing. Students are also given the chance to bring their own concepts and inventions to life in the college's so-called business incubation unit. All of the courses are taught by recognised experts from the world of esports in the UK and globally at the VeloPark at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in East London.

The College of Esports is the first university-level institution in the world to dedicate itself entirely to the rapidly growing world of competitive gaming and esports. That's why, besides the British Esports Organisation, including the University College of Osteopathy, formerly known as the British School of Osteopathy, in the centre of London, and national qualifications and awards body Sports Leadership in Milton Keynes. The college has also partnered with General Sports Europe, a 366 Group brand, for their commercial and media needs.

The added value of partnering with the BEA

Naturally, a partnership between the British Esports Association and the College of Esports in London seems like a more than a logical one. The two of them teaming up to stimulate the further development of esports in the UK makes a lot of sense. “We are delighted to have entered into this long-term exclusive higher education partnership”, says Professor Phili Wilson, the founder and chair of the College of Esports, “The knowledge, experience, and expertise of the British Esports Association is a central pillar of our approach to ensure that the College of Esports is at the cutting edge of the industry for our students”.

Start of class

The partnership between the BEA and the College of Esports will come into practice for the first time at the start of the academic year 2022/2023, in September 2022. These courses include bachelor degrees in International Esports Business & Digital Media (3 years), in International Esports Business (3 year), and in International Esports Business & Events Management, just to name a few of the options. “We're delighted to have signed this exclusive university-level partnership with the College of Esports to help deliver esports business degrees and ensure a bright future for our exciting industry”, stated Andy Payne OBE, Chair of the British Esports Association, “Esports not only offers many exciting career opportunities, it also gives people essential transferable skills that can be applied to many other roles and industries”.
