First Farming Simulator esports event coming to the UK

14 October 2023

Have you ever heard of Farming Simulator? Chances are that you have, because the farming simulation game has enjoyed a somewhat surprising growth in popularity over the past few years. So much in fact, that the game’s developer and publisher GIANTS Software has just announced the very first Farming Simulator UK esports event. During the upcoming LAMMA (Lincolnshire Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers Association) 2024 expo, the UK’s leading industry event for agricultural machinery planned for the 17th and 18th of January 2024, GIANTS will present Farming Simulator 22, the latest instalment of the franchise, and organise the esports Farming Simulator League (FSL). Like that, fans of esports in the UK get yet another unique event to look forward to.

Farming Simulator 2023

For those who are not yet familiar with the Farming Simulator franchise, this game is a farming simulation in which players need to farm, breed livestock, grow crops and sell assets with the goal of running a profitable farm. They can do so in virtual locations based on real-life locations in mainly American and European environments. Farming Simulator 22 is available on Microsoft Windows, MacOS, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Stadia. Farming Simulator 23 was also released already, back in May of this year, but will not be featured at LAMMA 2024 as it’s only available for Android, iOS and Nintendo Switch.

Farming Simulator League

The Farming Simulator addition to LAMMA 2024 will take place a few months after the conclusion of the fifth season of the official Farming Simulator League. This event will be played at the Agritechnica, one of the world’s leading trade fairs for agricultural machinery, in Hannover, Germany, on Friday, November 17th and Saturday, November 18th, 2023. Over the season, Farming Simulator League teams compete for points and prizes, and the eventual title of world champion.

“Farming Simulator is about growth – and with our attendance at LAMMA, we continue to cultivate our international presence and even put new seeds into the soil by expanding the Farming Simulator League”, says Boris Stefan, Head of Publishing at GIANTS Software, “We’re very happy and look forward to meeting new interested farmers and players in the UK”.

Farming Simulator at LAMMA 2024

At LAMMA 2024, an expected 35,000 visitors will be able to watch competitive Farming Simulator action for the first time ever in the UK. The exhibition will take place at the Birmingham NEC, as LAMMA 2024 is held there, and visitors will also get the chance to give the game a try themselves at one of the many dedicated gaming stations that will be set up at the venue. As a cherry on top, all of the Farming Simulator action during LAMMA 2024 will also be livestreamed in English and German on GIANTS Software’s own social media channels.

“The world of esports may be new to some in our industry, but we know that a lot of farmers are also gamers”, says Sarah Whittaker-Smith, Event Director at LAMMA, “With more than 150 farming brands and big machinery names also getting involved, LAMMA is the perfect venue for Farming Simulator League’s first UK event. It brings something totally unique to LAMMA 2024, and we can’t wait to bring FSL to a new audience”.
