Los Ratones win back-to-back EMEA Masters

25 June 2025

Great success for Los Ratones and therefore for esports in the UK, as the UK-based organisation has become only the second team to win back-to-back EMEA Masters championships. After becoming the first UK organisation to win an EMEA Masters earlier this year, Los Ratones recently came out on top at the highly contested EMEA Masters 2025 Spring. This tournament featured 32 of Europe’s best League of Legends teams from the Spring season regional leagues and was played online from June 3rd to June 21st. With their victory, Los Ratones earned € 24.000 (£ 20.453) from a prize pool worth € 60.000 (£ 51.132) in total.

Last straw

Los Ratones started their bid for EMEA Masters glory in good form, eliminating Kaufland Hangry Knights from Germany in the opening match of Group F. Barça eSports, who the UK-based organisation would eventually face in the Grand Final as well, turned out to be too strong in the Group F Winners’ Match (2-0 for the Spanish side), though. This convicted Los Ratones to a Decided Match against previous rivals Hangry Knights, who once again were not able to keep the British side from victory.

By grabbing onto their last straw and holding on, Los Ratones progressed to the playoffs where they faced another German esports organisation in NORD Esports. Ther Germans were easily dispatched of (3-0), but the same could not be said for the opposition in the next round. Turkish organisation Boostgate Esports was waiting in the quarterfinals, which ended up being a nailbiter in favour of the Brits (3-2). Los Ratones then also bulldozered over French organisation BK ROG Esports (3-) to reach the Grand Final, where Barça eSports were waiting once again.

Revenge

As we wrote before, it was Barça eSports, the team owned by football club FC Barcelona, who almost caused Los Ratones’ early exit from the EMEA Masters Spring 2025. From there, the Spanish side only kept winning, with their most impressive victory entailing the elimination of Karmine Corp in the semifinals of the Playoffs. As a result, Barça were the favourites going into the final showdown, though not by much as Los Ratones impressed as at times after managing to pick themselves up.

Nobody expected the UK organisation to be as dominant in the Grand Final as they were, though. Los Ratones mopped the floor with Barça eSports, beating them 3-0 with none of the three rounds taking them more than thirty minutes. That gave them their second consecutive EMEA Masters title, after winning the EMEA Masters Winter 2025 as well.

Chasing records

Thanks to their victory at the EMEA Masters Spring 2025, Los Ratones have now become only the second team ever to win back-to-back Masters championships, after French side Karmine Corp. The British organisation is not done chasing records though, as the French still hold the record for winning three consecutive Masters, as well as four Masters championships in total. We will see if Los Ratones have what it takes to attack those records as well in September, when the EMEA Masters Summer 2025 takes place.
