Man City star Erling Haaland gets own Skin in Clash of Clans

9 May 2024

The Premier League is a worldwide sports phenomenon, with millions of fans tuning into the English footballing elite every week, and now the world’s biggest football league has come to Clash of Clans as well. This month is Football Season in the hugely popular mobile strategy game and to ring it in, developers Supercell are collaborating with the one and only Erling Haaland, Manchester City’s superstar striker and one of the most exciting young prospects in the world of football right now. So what does this mean for fans of Haaland, of Clash of Clans and of esports in the UK in general?

Starting with the Skin

By getting his own Skin for the 2024 Football Season in Clash of Clans, Erling Haaland has become the first ‘real person’ to be featured that way in the game. It feels like a fitting choice by Supercell as well, as the Norwegian attacker is a known fan of the game. And now, after playing it for more than 10 years, he is getting his own playable character. During the month-long Football Season event, which runs from May 1st 2024 to May 31st 2024, players can recruit Haaland as a special version of the Barbarian King character.

“I’ve been a huge fan of the game for a long time and know everything about it, so to appear as an in-game character is really cool”, said Haaland in reaction to the announcement of his very own Clash of Clans Skin.

Fortunately for those fans who are absolutely set on getting the Haaland Skin, Supercell has made its acquisition very straight forward. The only thing players need to do, is to go over to the in-game shop and buy the King Haaland Skin for the Barbarian King character. It can be bought for $ 9.99 (or £ 8 in the United Kingdom).

More new stuff

As if the brand-new King Haaland Skin wasn’t enough, Supercell has introduced a couple more novelties for the 2024 Football Season. From May 1st to May 31st, for example, all players from a certain level and onwards can use a new football-themed Troop, called the Barbarian Kicker. It shoots footballs at defences to break them down and then starts attacking any remaining buildings in its path. For even higher-level players, there will also be a new Troop in the form of the Giant Thrower, a Giant who throws a bouncing football and destroys buildings.

During Football Season, Supercell is also introducing a new Spell, called the Yellow Card Spell. As you probably guessed, casting this Spell causes certain processes and actions to halt temporarily, such as a Hero or a defensive structure. While suspended, the target cannot attack or target your own Troops. The Yellow Card Spell, like the new temporary Troops play a key role in attempting and completing the new temporary football-themed challenge levels, and climbing up their leaderboards. Finishing top on one of those Leaderboards this month can win you up to 50.000 Gems!
