Marvel Rivals and 2 more new titles added to UK Student Champs

22 September 2026

The big moment thousands of students all over the United Kingdom have been waiting for is near: the opening of the new season of British Esports Student Champs. Registration for the largest esports competition for schools and colleges in the UK officially opened in Monday, September 14th, 2026, and the first stage is set to kick off in November.
In the build-up to the hugely popular UK esports competition, organiser British Esports has already revealed plenty of information and that includes the announcement of not one, not two, but three new titles. In addition to the existing line-up of cups and tournaments, the British Esports Student Champs 2026/27 will also feature a Marvel Rivals tournament, a Clash Royale cup and the brand-new UK Student Champs Racing League, an F1 sim racing tournament.

British Esports Student Champs 2026/27

As many of you most likely know, the British Esports Student Champs (often referred to as simply “Champs”) is an exciting series of competitive video gaming competitions for students aged 12+ in schools and colleges across the UK. The event is open to all secondary schools Further Education (FE) colleges and Alternative Provision (AP) schools in the UK, and is exclusively played on PC. Schools and colleges can enter multiple teams for the different games that are featured during the Student Champs 2026/27, including League of Legends and VALORANT.

“The Student Champs has expanded further than it ever has before, with more titles and more reasons to be part of the community”, says Louis Skilton, British Esports Media Operations Executive, “We can’t wait to invite you all back for another season and see how you get on. 3 new titles

As we mentioned earlier, the British Esports Student Champs 2026/27 are introducing three new games and formats to the format: a Marvel Rivals Open/National tournament, a Clash Royale Cup, and the F1 sim racing Student Champs Racing League.

Marvel Rivals
The biggest addition is probably the 6v6 team shooter Marvel Rivals, as it has been introduced as the fifth title in the full Student Champs. The competition will consist of an Open/National tournament that will join the calendar of the four standard esports titles that were featured during the last edition of the Student Champs (League of Legends, Overwatch, Rocket League and VALORANT).

Clash Royale Cup
British Esports is also adding a whole new cup to the Student Champs 2026/27, in the form of the Clash Royale Cup. This represents the first-ever addition of a mobile esports title to the British Esports Student Champs and the fourth cup tournament of the series overall. The Apex Legends Cup, the Street Fighter 6 Cup and the EA Sports FC Cup will all be returning as well.

Student Champs Racing League
As part of the Student Champs 2026/27, British Esports will also host a brand-new F1 sim racing Student Champs Racing League. The Student Racing League was formerly operated by Williams Esports and backed by the British Esports Federation, and will now be fully organised by British Esports going forwards.
