The Elder Scrolls VI official name revealed: Sentinel
3 November 2026
They say times flies when you are having fun and while that might be true in the world of esports in the UK, we do not think there are many Elder Scrolls fans who have forgotten that it already has been more than eight (!) years since Bethesda officially announced the coming of the Elder Scrolls VI. Since then, information about the newest instalment has been scarce, bar the occasional mention or leak. Recently though, sources close to Bethesda have said that the developer will be announcing the official name of the Elder Scrolls VI. According to them, Bethesda will reveal that the sixth instalment will be called “Sentinel” this month, which also marks fifteen years since The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was released.
Testing Sentinel
The news about the potential name for The Elder Scrolls VI comes from The Verge, where there allegedly has been contact with people close to Bethesda and the development of Elder Scrolls VI. Those sources have confirmed “Sentinel” as the official name for the upcoming game, which they say will be announced on or around November 11th, 2026.
“The announcement [of the name] could come as soon as next month, during a period that will mark 15 years since The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was released”, writes Tom Warren of The Verge, “Bethesda has been showing off Sentinel gameplay in recent months, I’m told. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma got a live playthrough of Sentinel in August, and she praised the scale of the game and said, ‘the story is even greater’.”
More about Elder Scrolls VI
As we wrote earlier, very little is known about The Elder Scrolls VI up until now, which is why the (premature) news about the game’s name is so big for players and fans. It was not the only information the previously mentioned Tom Warren came out with recently, though. Apparently, he also managed to learn more about the actual game and where it will be set., though nothing has been officially confirmed yet.
“While I’m only expecting a name reveal next month and nothing more, I’ve been hearing some additional details about the game”, writes Warren, “If you want to totally avoid spoilers about the game, then don’t read the next paragraph. I understand that Sentinel will be set in Hammerfell, a province in the Elder Scrolls universe that’s appeared in The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard and The Elder Scrolls Online. Sentinel will be the first game about the history of the Elder Scrolls, and help uncover the secrets of these mysterious ancient artifacts.”
Elder Scrolls VI release
As for the most important piece of information of all, the release date, we unfortunately do not have any news yet. We know The Elder Scrolls VI entered pre-production by 2018, formally being announced during Bethesda's E3 2018 conference, and that the game entered active production in 2023 following the launch of Starfield. Nevertheless, various sources have already mentioned a launch no earlier than 2028.
