Meet the UK League of Legends roster for Esports Nations Cup

During practically the whole month of November this year, the eyes of the international esports world will be on Saudi Arabia, when the inaugural edition of the Esports Nations Cup will take place there. The event will feature a total of sixteen (16) titles, including the likes of Dota 2 and Counter-Strike 2, and the United Kingdom is planning to send a strong and competitive team to Riyadh to compete in several of those titles. The UK esports team will be representing as “Team Great Britain” and they recently revealed another roster, this time for the League of Legends event at the 2026 Esports Nations Cup.
LoL at 2026 Esports Nations Cup
The official 2026 Esports Nations Cup event for League of Legends is set to start on November 21st and conclude on November 29th. The Saudi organisation is bringing in the best LoL teams in the world to compete for a $ 1,5 million dollar prize, which comes down to about £ 1,12 million. National Teams will be awarded points based on placements at official Riot Games competitions and the top sixteen countries by June 14th will be invited. The eight best teams are directly seeded into the Group Stage.
UK League of Legends roster
To lead the line-up, former Head of Coaching Development at Team Vitality, James “Mac” MacCormack was brought in as Team Great Britain’s Head Coach. He will be accompanied by James “Torok” Thomsen, Adam “Eragon“ Harney and Jonathan “just jon” Ellis in the coach staff. Together with the British Esports Federation, Esports Wales and Scottish Esports, they have compiled the League of Legends roster that will have to battle through the Esports Nations Cup (ENC) West Europe Qualifiers on the way to the Playoffs in Riyadh in November.

Alphari left out
Many fans and followers of Team Great Britain and general esports in the UK will have expected to see Barney “Alphari” Morris on the roster. The Welshman is a two-time Worlds participant who is currently serving as Assistant Coach at Movistar KOI. Seeing as the Spanish organisation is in contention for a spot at the 2026 Mid-Season Invitational (MSI), it is impossible for him to combine his responsibilities there with a role on Team GB’s League of Legends roster for the 2026 Esports Nations Cup.
Team Great Britain as it stands
As it stands in the official ENC ranking, Team Great Britain will not be among the top sixteen teams by June 14th. As a result, they will have to earn a spot at the main event during the 2026 Esports Nations Cup through the Europe West Qualifiers, as mentioned earlier. This will see the Brits compete against the likes of Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands. There is a total of sixteen countries in the Europe West region and only the top 2 will advance to the main League of Legends event in Riyadh. In other words, Team Great Britain seems to have their work cut out for them.
