The esports scene in the United Kingdom is one of the fastest growing in Europe and the rest of the world. More and more players are finding their way to esports in the UK, while more and more companies are realising the sector’s huge potential. Even the UK government is getting involved with its own official esports department.

One of the latest major developments Lin the UK esports scene is the brand-new sponsorship deal between esports organisation Lionscreed and London-based fintech company Plutus. The two parties very recently signed a multi-year deal that makes Plutus the organisation’s official headline sponsor and according to the company, it won’t be the last collaboration they will start in the esports and gaming industry. While exact details of the deal between Lionscreed and Plutus have not been revealed, its value is supposed to be somewhere in the six figures.

Focus on community

Lionscreed is a well-known esports organisation that was founded in 2019 in London. Since then, they have grown into an organisation with teams competing at the highest level in various titles, including Fortnite and League of Legends. Since its inception, Lionscreed has put great emphasis on creating and maintaining an active community, which has resulted in the creation of various events and tournaments. One of the most recent examples of this is Lionsclash, a Valorant tournament exclusively aimed at UK universities and colleges. The first edition of the tournament took place earlier this year, during the ESI Next Gen Event at the University of Warwick. With the support of Plutus, Lionscreed wants to launch a bunch more projects and tournaments over the coming years.

“With Plutus’ support, we can offer the finest events and opportunities to everyone, including those engaged in our new educational mission”, says Dale Adams, COO at Lionscreed, “We already have exciting plans for community events at New Meta, and activations at EGX, Insomnia and ESI London in the upcoming months, with more to follow”.

Plutus is discovering world of esports

Plutus was founded in 2015 and specialises in offering services that are very similar to those offered by traditional banks, but with cryptocurrency and reward programme integration. The deal with Lionscreed is not the company’s first collaboration in the world of esports and gaming, and it won’t be the last. Plutus already has integrated brands like PlayStation, Xbox and Steam into their various perks and rewards programmes.

“Since the rollout of our gaming Perks in May, a substantial portion of our user base has enthusiastically embraced one or more of these offers”, explains Danial Daychopan, CEO at Plutus, “This trend clearly shows the appeal Plutus’ reward card has within the gaming community, as it effortlessly enables them to earn rewards through everyday purchases, including game-related expenses. PLU Rewards are the most effective way to introduce Web2 consumers to Web3, and this collaboration with Lionscreed is a major step towards our long-term goal of dominating the gaming sector”.
