Which UK players qualified for Global Esports Games in Mumbai?

17 February 2026

It is February, which means that the 2025 Global Esports Games are finally upon us. From the 26th to the 1st (of March 2026), to be exact, many of the best esports players in the world are gathering in Mumbai, India, to compete. This includes some of the best talent from esports in the UK, as British qualifiers for various titles were held over the past weeks, such as Clash Royal and Dota 2. So, which UK players have qualified for the Global Esports Games in Mumbai and how will they be representing the United Kingdom there?

Team GB Dota 2

Let’s start with Dota 2, one of the biggest and most successful esports title of all time. Team GB, which is the official name of Great Britain’s Dota 2 team, managed to qualify for the World Finals in Mumbai, together with Turkey and Team WorldConnected. It will remain to be seen if the UK players will be able to go down to Mumbai in the end though, as current logistical challenges are likely to make it difficult for them to attend the tournament in person.

“Europe takes the Dota 2 stage”, wrote the Global Esports Federation on their own X account, “Congratulations to Great Britain, Türkiye, and Team #worldconnected on qualifying for Dota 2 at the Mumbai 2025 Global Esports Games World Finals. Three teams. One region. One global esports community.”

Clash Royal

Team GB got a similar shout-out from the organisation after qualifying for the Clash Royal event of the Global Esports Games World Finals. EGW represented the British team during the qualifiers and he did not disappoint. The Brit managed to overcome players from all over Europe, including Georgia, Greece and Montenegro, to qualify for the World Finals in Mumbai. Together with EGW, the representative players from Hungary, Portugal and Serbia also clinched qualification for the upcoming tournament.

“Europe steps onto the Clash Royale stage”, wrote Global Esports on X “Congratulations to Great Britain, Hungary, Portugal, and Serbia on qualifying for Clash Royale at the Mumbai 2025 Global Esports Games World Finals. Four nations. One region. One global esports community.”

Hoping for UK success

Naturally, the Mumbai 2025 Global Esports Games are all about esports and the world-class talent gathering in India for the tournament, but it is also more than a competition. India is considered a bit of a sleeping giant when in it comes to the global esports industry and an event like this can provide just what is needed to wake that giant up. As for the UK players who managed to qualify for the 2025 Global Esports Games, they will be looking to make their own mark on the event and esports history.

“Congratulations to the Great Britain players on qualifying for Global Esports Games Mumbai 2025”, says Jeff Simpkins, Chair of the UK Esports Team Committee (UKETC), “Representing your country on the international stage is always special, and it’s great to see UK talent continuing to make its mark in global competition. We want to wish every player the very best of luck.”
