All tickets for upcoming Halo Major London have been sold!

17 April 2024

The start of this year brought with it fantastic news for fans of Halo and general esports in the UK. In January, it was announced that there would be a Halo Championship Series (HCS) event in London this year, for the first time ever in Europe. From May 31st to June 2nd, the official Halo Championship Series London Major will take place at the iconic Twickenham Stadium, also known as “The Official Home of England Rugby”.

Around a month after the announcement, tickets went on sale and now, not even two months later, the organisation has communicated that the event has already sold out. Quadrant, the esports organisation hosting the event, even put up more tickets for sale once it turned out they had underestimated the demand. It did not take more than a week for those tickets to sell out as well, which means that the HCS London Major is now officially sold out.

More demand from Europe than expected

Considering how popular Halo has been in the United Kingdom in the past years, it is perhaps no surprise that the upcoming London Major sold out as quickly as it did. At the same time, it’s worth noting that Twickenham Stadium has a dedicated esports zone inside, which seats about a thousand live spectators. Even though the organisation has not confirmed this, we assume that the sold-out status of the HCS London Major means that each of these 1000-something seats has been filled, which would make for an unprecedented ambiance.

“The HCS London Major is sold out (again)”, Quadrant, which is part owned by British Formula 1 driver Lando Norris, wrote on Twitter a few days ago, “An unreal response, the EU scene showed up strong. See you in May…it’s going to be one for the history books […] All HCS London Major team passes are now sold out [too]. This event is going to be something special.”

$ 250.000 prize pool

At the time of the announcement of the city of London as the location for the upcoming HCS Major, the organisation also provided more information about qualification structures, participating teams, and of course, the prize money. Starting with the qualifiers, the structure is as following, based on a format with 16 competing teams at HCS London.

  • The top 6 teams from the HCS Arlington Major that took place in March 2024.
  • 2 teams from North American qualifiers.
  • 1 team from EU qualifiers.
  • 2 teams based on the North American HCS points ranking.
  • 1 team based on the European HCS points ranking.
  • 4 teams from an open bracket.

The previously mentioned Arlington Major already revealed the first six participants as Spacestation Gaming, Optic Gaming, FaZe Clan, Shopify Rebellion, Foe and Complexity Gaming formed the top six in Texas. Together with ten other teams which still need to qualify, they will be competing for a chunk of the total prize pool worth $ 250.000. The winner of the Halo Championship Series London Major takes home $ 100.000, while the numbers two and three receive $ 60.000 and $ 40.000 respectively.
