Time for the BLAST Open London 2025!
4 September 2025
As we write this article, the start of the BLAST Open London 2025 is just days away. One of the biggest events for esports in the UK of the year is set to kick off on Friday, September 5th, and will run until Sunday, September 7th, at the OVO Arena in northwest London. As part of our preparations for the event, which is a major milestone for the UK-based Counter-Strike community every year, we have taken a look at the six qualified teams who will be competing for a share of the $ 330.000 (£ 245.567) prize pool and the all-important Valve Regional Standing (VRS) points.
Qualified teams
The online qualifiers for the BLAST Open London 2025, also referred to as the BLAST Open Fall 2025, resulted in a few interesting results, including the failure of powerhouses NAVI and Team Spirit to reach the playoffs in London. The line-up for the upcoming tournament is still of world-class level, though.
FaZe Clan
US-based FaZe Clan impressed with victories over Ecstatic and NAVI in the playoffs, but it may well have been a defeat that actually boosted their confidence the most. An extremely close 2-1 defeat at the hands of Team Vitality showed that FaZe is capable of competing against the very best in the world.
FURIA
Brazilian organisation FURIA booked victories over Legacy and Team Spirit (the BLAST Bounty Season 2 champions) in the playoffs and then reached the upper bracket final after beating Team Spirit in the semi-finals. The Brazilians then overcame MOUZ in the final to come into the BLAST London Open 2025 as one of the favourites.
G2 Esports
Germany-based G2 Esports were the sixth and last team to qualify for the BLAST London Open 2025. They did so by reaching the lower bracket final, in which they overcame Team Spirit 1-2 after going behind initially.
M80
American organisation M80 is perhaps the most surprising of the contenders in London, as they have not had the best of seasons so far. They regained some form during the BLAST Open Fall 2025: Closed Qualifier though, in which they beat Virtus.pro, Natus Vincere and Fnatic in the lower bracket playoffs.
MOUZ
The Germans from MOUZ qualified for the BLAST London Open as runner-up of the Group B Closed Qualifier upper bracket final. They are considered one of the in-form teams at the moment and their starting match-up against M80 looks promising for the German organisation.
Team Vitality
Last but definitely not least, Team Vitality. The French organisation is the favourite for the victory in London after consecutive successes in the past months and years. During the Closed Qualifiers, they did not lose a single game as they went on to qualify for the BLAST London Open 2025 with the top seed from Group A
Mayor of London expects major impact
The upcoming BLAST London Open is not only a big happening for the UK esports community, but for the entire city of London. Or at least, that is what Sadiq Khan, current Mayor of London, expects of the event.
I am delighted to see the prestigious BLAST Premier London Open come to the capital this weekend”, Khan said recently, “It will showcase the very best of esports as gamers and fans from across the globe flock to London, creating a significant estimated £30 million economic boost for our city. London is a leading destination for esports – a hugely exciting and fast-growing industry – and I will continue to work hard to support its growth in the capital.”
