UK National Student Esports signs partnership with UNiDAYS

4 October 2023

Esports in the UK are growing at a fast rate and one of the environments in which this relatively new industry flourishes most is at universities. Earlier this year, for example, Uswitch conducted research into which universities have the most gamers in the UK, which turned out to be the University of Warwick. Number two on the list was University College London, followed by the University of Manchester. It’s therefore no wonder that more and more companies are finding their way to the world of esports in the UK. One of the most recent on that list is discount website UNiDAYS, who have partnered with National Student Esports (NSE) to support the student gaming community in the UK.

Official partner of National Student Esports

Through this partnership, UNiDAYS has become an official partner of National Student Esports, one of the most important university esports bodies in the UK. On top of that, the well-known discount website will also be an official sponsor of the next British University Esports Championship and it will also support NSE’s Games Innovation Challenge, a game jam competition run by the organisation itself. Like that, UNiDAYS joins a host of well-known and well-reputed brands who already associated themselves with NSE, including DrayTek, Intel and Monster Energy.

“This partnership is a natural fit with huge potential and is an exciting step for both organisations”, says Alex Coulson, Managing Director at National Student Esports, “Obviously UNiDAYS is very well known by students already but we are looking forward to helping UNiDAYS form deeper relationships with the NSE community, plus we are excited about the value they will bring to the students too. Ultimately this means lots more support and opportunities for our thriving esports and gaming community which is core to what we do at NSE”.

British University Esports Championship 2023

As we briefly mentioned earlier, the goal of the collaboration between NSE and UNiDAYS is to help grow esports in the UK by supporting grassroots esports and game development talent. The first official moment for UNiDAYS as NSE partner will be the British University Esports Championship, one of the leading competitions for esports in the UK with more than 111 universities and 2.200 teams participating. It features an expansive array of popular esports titles, including Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Rocket League and League of Legends, just to name a few. As cherry on top, after partnering with Nintendo earlier this year, NSE also added a brand-new Splatoon 3 event to the proceedings.

“We are thrilled to embark on this exciting journey alongside NSE to level up student life”, says Juandre Bekker, Industry Leader at UNiDAYS, “This partnership not only empowers students to excel in their passion for esports and game development, but also enriches their overall university experience by offering them access to the brands they love through UNiDAYS. We can't wait to see what this year brings”.
