Northern LoL Championship publishes full lists of teams for NLC Summer 2023 Season

18 June 2023

The Northern League of Legends Championship (NLC) has announced all teams rosters and broadcasters for the NLC Summer 2023 Season. The organisation, which represents the EMEA Regional League for League of Legends teams in the United Kingdom, Ireland and the Nordic countries, has now published full lists of teams taking part in every division, from Division 1 to Division 4. Besides that, the NLC also revealed the broadcast talent that will be presenting all of the action over the summer. Considering the importance of the championship for esports in the UK and especially UK League talent, we’ve taken a quick look at the team list for each of the four divisions.

Division 1

Compared to last season, probably the biggest change for the NLC Summer 2023 Season is the replacement of Norwegian side Riddle Esports by Fourth Wall. The former withdrew from the NLC to join Norway’s Telialigaen after winning the NLC Spring 2023 Split. The latter was fortunate enough to replace the Norwegians for the current Summer 2023 Season. As a result of this, there will be three British sides competing this summer (Fourth Wall, Ruddy Esports and Verdant) plus one Irish side (Nativz), with the remaining four spots being taken up by Norwegian teams (Domino Esports, Nord Esports, UniQ Esports Club, Vanir).

Division 2

Division 1 is not the only division with new names this summer season. In Division 2, London-based Lionscreed, who are also competing in Fortnite, completed the open application process and were allowed into the NLC as a result. Finnish organisation Bluewhite Esports and Swedish organisation Karolinerna also joined the second division after winning promotion in Division 3 last season. Besides Lionscreed, the other UK esports organisations in Division 2 this summer are Venomcrest, Munster Rugby Gaming and the University of Portsmouth’s The Invulnerables.

Division 3

Division 3 is divided into four sub-division: 3A, 3B, 3C and 3D. A few big names will be present at this level over the summer, including G2 Hel, the women’s League of Legends team of G2 Esports, JLingz Esports, the organisation set up and owned by former Manchester United footballer Jesse Lingard, and Fourth Wall Academy. Several other organisations also see their academy squads participating in one of the third-division categories, including Lionscreed (Lionscreed Lionesses), Verdant (Verdant Bloom) and Domino Esports.

Division 4

Like the third NLC division, Division 4 is divided into four separate sub-division as well, namely 4A, 4B, 4C and 4D. Each division contains ten teams and as usual, this is the level that welcomes the most new names. While several teams from the NLC Spring 2023 Season decided not to return for this summer event, the organisation still managed to fill up the forty available spots with time to spare. The team list provides a mix of new names, better-known names and academy teams, including Karolinerna White, UK Painkillers and Lime Lite Gaming.
