New UK-based Counter-Strike 2 platform PlayerForge launched

25 April 2024

It has been a rustling and bustling twelve months for players and fans of Counter-Strike, especially in the United Kingdom. Of course, the major news was the heavily anticipated launch of Counter-Strike 2 as successor to the hugely popular Counter-Strike: Global Offensive title towards the end of last year. The new game set in motion a series of developments that enriched the Counter-Strike environment in the United Kingdom, but potentially in other countries as well.

Not long after the launch of Counter-Strike 2, for example, four former Counter-Strike experts with ample experience in the world of esports in the UK launched the British Counter-Strike Association (BCSA), while a few months earlier, Dragoni relaunched in the United Kingdom. At the moment of their launch, the well-known esports betting exchange revealed that they had also included Counter-Strike odds in their new offering.

Introducing PlayerForge

Those are all great and positive developments for fans of Counter-Strike and general esports in the UK, and that’s not even all of it. The latest addition to the wider British Counter-Strike ecosystem is PlayerForge, a long-awaited and brand-new Counter-Strike 2 platform aimed at matchmaking, event organisation and tournament planning. The brains behind the project are Adam “Blanks” Heath, owner of UK esports organisation Reason Gaming and Counter-Strike news platform UKCSGO, and Tim “ttgzaN” Grantham, former Counter-Strike player for Reason Gaming.

“During the life of Counter-Strike there have been a small number of successful online platforms that have helped the game grow in both popularity and entertainment”, said PlayerForge in an announcement accompanying their recent announcement, “Something that is slowly being forgotten, though, is the fun aspect of Counter-Strike. PlayerForge understands the need for a competitive environment for players to practise, compete and improve in. From their first game to their progression through the ranks as they embark on a competitive journey, it is important for them to have a reliable, consistent platform they know has their interests in mind. Whether you’re a player, partner/sponsor, or spectator, PlayerForge offers a dynamic and immersive gaming experience that redefines the future of competitive esports.”

According to the company founders, the idea for PlayerForge has been in the making for more than a decade. At the moment of writing, they are preparing the beta testing phase of the project, so if you want to stay up to date on the latest developments around PlayerForge, you can sign up on their official website.

International partnership

While the preparations for the beta test are in full swing, UK-based PlayerForge has also already announced their first international partnership. The organisation signed a collaboration agreement with Skolemesterskaberne i Esports, a Danish platform with more than 50 member schools and more than 500 member students, focused on fostering esports skills as well as other useful skills, including teamwork and strategic thinking.

PlayerForge: “Offering both online and offline competition and experiences, we will determinedly work together to continue providing students and parents with mentorship, competition and teaching of the vast benefits and opportunities that esports has to offer.”
