Esports in Education Summit returning to the UK this year

11 May 2022

With the corona pandemic in Europe and all of the accompanying restrictions largely behind us now, the calendar for esports in the UK has been filling up rapidly over the past few weeks and months. Just last week, for example, we wrote a piece about upcoming Esports Venue Summit in Swansea, while we covered the Amazon University Esports event in the UK and Ireland a few weeks earlier. This time, we want to shift the focus to the return of the annual Esports in Education Summit. On May 3rd, the not-for-profit esports body and fellow organiser of the event British Esports announced that the summit will return to the United Kingdom on June 30th, 2022.

Two-year absence

Like so many events in practically every sector imaginable, live events related to esports suffered enormously from the corona pandemic. Many annual events had to be postponed indefinitely and the Esports in Education Summit was no exception. That’s why, after an absence of almost two years, this year’s edition marks a true return of the industry event, a first physical edition since 2019. It will be the fourth edition of the summit overall and besides British Esports, the Association of Colleges Sport (AOC) is also involved in its organisation.

The Esports in Education Summit 2022 will be taking place on the 30th of June 2022, at the Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies in Nottingham, in their Metronome Building, to be exact. This music and live event hub is the perfect venue for an event of this kind, in big part thanks to the presence of its specialised esports facility, Confetti X. As an extra for attendees of the event, the institute will organise a special tour of the facility after the summit to provide them with an insider view of the future of esports in the UK.

Free of charge

The idea behind the Esports in Education Summit is to bring together senior leaders, curriculum managers, professors, esports professionals, teachers and parents from across the United Kingdom to learn about and discuss topics related to esports and competitive gaming in schools and universities. The day will consist of various keynotes and panel discussions about a wide range of topics, including the future of esports, the story of British Esports and Student Championships, and how sports and esports can mutually benefit from each other. Several schools and college will also be presenting their solutions to particular challenges they have faced when it comes to esports development.

The Esports in Education Summit 2022 is free of charge and tickets are limited in supply. In case of interest, tickets can be booked here. The full speaker line-up, which is expected to be announced around the 19th of May, will also be published there.
